The 5 Best Back to School Tips for Moms by Utah blogger Mumsy

Hey Mumsies!  Believe it or not, for some of you, it's time to start thinking about back to school stuff.  And that includes me too!  My kids start school on August 15th and I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around that!  Seriously where did this summer go?!  But then again, why am I even complaining.  I don't know how you year round school moms keeping it together with your school starting this month!  Seriously.  I am not worthy!  Ha ha!

Even if I may be petitioning to my school district for a summer break extension, I have to start thinking about all things school related.  And since all of us will eventually be sending our kids back to school, here are 5 amazing back to school tips every mom needs to know before this upcoming school year.

5 Amazing Back to School Tips for Moms

1) Join the Sign Up community!
I recently discovered the Sign Up and this summer and love what they're all about!  Basically, it's a website/app designed to help people get together to make great things happen.  Like...parent teacher conferences, PTA meetings, school activities, etc.  So, if you're a Mumsy that's a teacher, one that wants to join the PTA or one that just wants people to stay in the know with various school functions, Sign Up is the perfect thing to help you successfully bring people together and accomplish great things with ease!

2) Ease into your Routine
Last year I was horrible at this.  Instead of easing into our school year routine, I waited until the day before to try and get my kids ready for the new sleep schedule and daily activities and it was a horrible experience.  Ha ha!  So, for our back to school prep this school year I highly recommend adjusting your summer routine to your school year routine (i.e. new sleep schedule, meal times, etc.) 1-2 weeks before school starts so that you can avoid as many melt downs and anxious behaviors as possible.

3) Visit the School
Like tip number two, you should also make sure to visit your child's school a week before school starts.  By doing this, you can spend some one-on-one time going through the school with your child.  So that when the first day of school finally comes, your child can walk through their school with confidence and ease.

4) Talk it Out
Before school starts, talk about what your kids can expect on the first day of school and also work with your kids to come up with things each of them can work on to help them be the best students they can this school year.

5) Take an Inventory
Instead of going out to buy all new school supplies.  First take an inventory of what you already have; and then go from there.  I actually started doing that this week, and am pretty sure I have enough pencils to supply my kids with for the entire school year!

What back to school tips do you want to share with me?! I'd love to hear them!
