Attention Mumsies...It's GIVEAWAY TIME!

Before diving into today's blog post, I wanted to let all of you know that I've teamed up with Bingham Cyclery to give one lucky Utah Mama their very own Alibi bike by Specialized (retail value-$550) on my Facebook page!  So click HERE to enter!

I have one and absolutely love it because it has an anti-rust chain, puncture proof airless tires-talk about an OMG feature!, range gears, light reflective adhesives, and a darling bell to boot!

Now on to today's post...

Summer is officially here.  And for my kids, that means they spend most of their time playing outside and riding their new bikes.  So to help keep them safe, I took Emi and Zachary on a bike ride around our neighborhood to practice some very easy and very practical bike safety tips that they could easily remember as they ride their bikes all summer long.  Isaac happened to be in a bad mood when we did this, and refused to go on a bike ride with us.  Ha ha!  So I'll have to make sure I go over these summer bike safety tips with him sometime week.

To make sure your kids have a fun and safe time riding their bikes this summer, here are

5 Summer Bike Safety Tips for Kids

1) Wear a helmet that fits!  For reals!
Head injuries decrease by 45% when your kids wear a helmet that fits.

2) Ride on the sidewalk
If you can't ride on the sidewalk, then ride on the right-hand side of the road when possible.

3) Use hand signals to let others know when you are stoping or turning.

4) Wear bright colors and make sure you bike has all the appropriate safety gear on it.
Which would be light reflectors and a bell.

5) For the Parents-Ride with your kids whenever possible.
By taking the time to ride with your kids in group, you are able to help ensure their safety and continually teach and reinforce these important bike safety tips.

Here's to a fun and accident free summer!
