the Nativity: A Christmas Tradition

There are a lot of highlights for my family when Christmas rolls around each year.  But one of our annual favorites is reenacting the Nativity story.  Along with snuggling up around the glow of our Christmas tree and looking at various nativity scene pictures from the countless nativity picture books I have collected over the years.

Last night my entire extended family on my mom's side got together for our annual nativity story gathering.  Which basically consists of all the little cousins choosing and dressing up as their favorite nativity figure (Isaac was a Wise Man, Zachary was Joseph, and Emi was the Virgin Mary) and standing in front of a homemade cardboard manger when one of the adults reads their part in the Luke 2 version of the nativity story.  Though things are usually somewhat chaotic and there are definitely way more than one Virgin Mary and a random moo-ing cow that was once a Wise Man, the nativity scene picture all the littles help create is quite the soul touching site to behold.

Which is why I'm really excited that The Small Seed asked me to talk about this on their website today as part of their Light the World initiative.  So make sure to head on over and see some darling nativity scene pictures of my littles acting out their own version of the nativity story, read why the nativity story is such a beloved Christmas tradition in our family, and watch a fun video Emi and I made about why we have loved helping spread the LIGHT this Christmas season.
