thrift shopping

My love for thrift shopping and buying antiques started when I was a little girl going through a hope chest of some of my grandma's possessions.  I found the items to be so different to what we currently had, and loved that they all told some sort of story.  As I got older, this love that I had continued to grow and once I had a car of my own, I loved going to various antique shops and thrift stores to find one-of-a-kind accessories and clothing pieces.  And now that I have children and my own home I love thrift shopping for unique items for these two aspects of my life!

Here in Utah we have Deseret Industries.  A huge thrift store chain that takes and re-sells gently used items at minimal cost along with training their employees in a range of career fields to enable them to find work that is need of their specific skills.  And since you all know my deep rooted love for shopping with a purpose, Deseret Industries (or "the DI thrift store" as us Utah locals call it) is a place I shop at quite frequently.

Which makes me super excited about the new Deseret Industries Springville, Utah location (655 S. 1750 W. Springville, UT 84663)!  Don't get me wrong, I love shopping at the DI we have here in Provo.  But that store has been around for decades, and I feel like it can get over-picked quickly by the college students in our area who are looking for things at a cheaper price.  So, I'm thrilled about the "new blood" that is coming to the Deseret Industries in Springville!  Ha ha!  If you live here in Utah, or will be visiting this weekend, you should definitely check out the new space!  The grand opening will be this Thursday-Saturday and I simply can't wait!
