Summer Roller Skating Party Ideas7.25.2016
Now that Isaac is officially in elementary school, I knew I wanted to do something fun for him and his friends once school was out for the summer. So, of course I opted for a party. Ha ha!
In the past, I used to throw out all the stops when it came to any party that I chose to host. But with a new baby and a new house that we are still unpacking/moving in to, I've really had to scale back my parties because I knew throwing any sort of party that required an extensive amount of planning and preparation would literally have given me a mental breakdown. Wanting to remain as sane as possible, I took the simple route and came up with some fun party ideas that would easily keep the kids and adults entertained.
At the very top of list were a few roller skating party ideas and since my kids are all about things on wheels these days, I decided to go with that and rented out a party room at Classic Fun Center, our local skating rink. This amazing place has been around in Utah since I was a kid and I can't even begin to tell you how many summer days I spent at this place with my childhood girlfriends. Of course, this phase of my life was all in the 1990's and since the 90's are now "cool" again, I went with that and threw a 90's themed roller skating party just like the ones I would go to as a kid. Which meant serving up a few cheese and pepperoni pizzas, providing tokens for the arcade games, using yellow smily face balloons for decorations, and giving out neon colored glow stick bracelets and necklaces which doubled up as our roller skate party favors and a fun accessory for everyone to wear out on the roller rink.
Though this party was planned with the kids in mind, the adults had just as much fun! Probably because we were all acting like kids ourselves! Ha ha! And, to sweeten the night that much more, I served up the most amazing custom made cake, cupcakes and cake bites from The Sweet Tooth Fairy before everyone went home for the night. For the next party you throw, I highly recommend using them! They were so fun to work with and did such a great job at designing my cake to look just the way I imagined it!
This party was simply the best! Especially because I hardly had to do any work for it! Aside from bringing in the balloons, glow sticks for our roller skate party favors, and desserts, Classic Fun Center took care of everything else. Even the kid party games and entertainment! So, instead of running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I actually got to hang out with our friends and even hit up the skating rink with my little roller crew!
Of course, I did completely space making and delivering some cute roller skate party invitations (I seriously have the worst mommy brain!) until the very last minute. So instead of killing myself to make some last minute invitations for our roller skating party, I sent out a large group text to all our friends and it worked out great! Thank goodness for modern technology! I can't tell you how many times texting has gotten me out of bind. Ha ha!
When I started planning this party, I was really worried that it wouldn't be as much fun as I imagined. But I quickly proved myself wrong. Learning that even if you scale back a bit, if you put your whole heart and soul into what you are doing, you can create an incredible party that people will remember for years to come!
