Family halloween costume ideas

Don't worry, i am well aware that alloween has come and gone.   But, after doing my easy diy halloween costume series, I had quite a few people ask what my kids officially ended up being for Halloween.  So, I thought I'd share!

Hope you don't mind!  tomorrow I promise to move on to all things Thanksgiving/November related.  Scout's Honor!

So, for those of you who asked, here are this year's official Petersen

family halloween costumes

Dave-that's 70's guy

This man of mine isn't the biggest fan when it comes to dressing up, but knowing how much I LOVE Halloween and our entire family being in costume, he took one for the team and threw this look together.  and I helped him settle with the name for it!  haha.

Moi-party pooper/party planner/sad clown/mime

Originally, i was going for a party pooper.  But I guess the phrase has kind of died off, because I had a lot of people ask me if I was a party planner, sad clown, or mime.  At one point I tried to explain to a group of people that I was a party planner, and a kid in the group said, "so that means you poop parties?!"  L O L !  I had to give the kid a gold star for literally translating what a party pooper could be!  haha!

For months, this kid was set on being a black widow.  Then, about a week and a half before Halloween, i came home with a spider-man costume that I had found at a local thrift store, and the rest was history!  Of course, this kid refused to wear the mask.  but i was able to talk him into letting me paint a black spider on his face.

Birdie-prize winning blue ribbon horse

This girl is currently OBSESSED with horses.  So when i asked her what she wanted to be for Halloween, I wasn't the least bit surprised when she said, " a horsie!"  We found her costume online and ordered it way in advance.  I tried to keep it hidden and out of the way so that I could preserve it for Halloween.  But, of course, Birdie found it, and wore it at least once or twice a week before Halloween. Luckily it was still in really good condition when Halloween actually arrived.

bug-mickey mouse

This historic character has become almost like a golden idol for this kid,  which I'm not currently worried about, because he's two.  But, this kid seriously eats, sleeps, and breathes Mickey.  so it was a no brainer that this is what he should be for Halloween.  And, even though the holiday is over,  he still insists on wearing his mickey mouse hat wherever we go!

It was really weird not doing some sort of family themed costumes this year,  but we have entered that phase of life where my kids actually care about what they are for Halloween.  Boohoo!  haha.  At least they are willing to dress-up!  Here's to hoping that next year i can convince them that we should all be day of the dead skeletons!
