I am so thrilled it’s October!  Though I love the sweater weather and the falling leaves, my favorite thing about this month is Halloween!  Since Natashia loves to party just as much as I do, we decided to host our very own Halloween soiree!  If you follow us on Instagram, you already will have seen our party featured on Provo Mayor.  Though you can read the full write-up of our event there, I thought it would be fun to share a simplified version of it here.

So, let's do this!

With the desire to host a brilliantly unique Halloween party as our motivation, we combined our children’s love of animals and our love of bold colors together to create our first ever ZOOKY Halloween Party.  Get it, Zooky.  As in zoo and spooky combined.  Call us cheesy, but we’re pretty darn proud of that one!

When it comes to throwing parties, we believe that every party should include enticing invitations, good food, fun entertainment, and definitely costumes if you are throwing a Halloween party; which we definitely were!  As you already know, we live in Provo and are HUGE fans of our city.  With so many incredible business surrounding us in every direction, we decided it would be fun to include them in every possible aspect of our party.

For our invitations, we called our dear friend and former Provo resident Brenda Bird to design and create the invitations for our party.

And, since we were soooo obsessed with the masked animal concept she created for the invitations, we also asked her to create and enlarge a few more masked animal silhouettes that we had printed off at Print-Mark, our favorite local copy center, and then used them to decorate the walls of our stellar event room at The Manor.

Since our ZOOKY Halloween Party was a kid friendly event, we knew entertainment and food would be a crucial aspect of this party.  So we turned to Sodalicious, The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Café, and Provo Bakery for the sweets; and man did they deliver!  Sodalicious set up a full soda bar and treated our guests to an endless supply of their delicious and unique beverage concoctions.

Halloween Party Food Ideas

The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Café provided us with a HUGE assortment of their regular and mini sized cupcakes that our guests couldn’t get enough of!  On average, we think each person ate at least 2 or three!

and Provo Bakery baked two dozen custom designed sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkle colors that perfectly matched the color scheme of our party!

As for the entertainment, our guests could make paper plate lion masks, play an animal ball toss game and take pictures in our photo booth for a chance to win free Cornbelly’s Corn Maze tickets for the best picture.  Then, just before the party came to a close, everyone gathered together for an amazing magic show by local Provo magician Theron Christensen

Last but not least, were the decorations and the costumes.  Two other aspects that we just loved about our ZOOKY party! Aside from the large scale animal silhouette posters, we also hung large tissue paper pom-poms from the ceiling, mounted custom created felt banners from The Bees Knees Shoppe above our dessert bar sign and photo booth backdrop, and then used a variety of pumpkins from our favorite local pumpkin patch, McCord’s Garden Center, for centerpieces.

As for the costumes…we don’t even know where to start!  Using beautifully detailed masks from Opposite of Far and whimsically designed and converted sweat jackets by Nemiha Studebaker (you can check out more her amazing work on Instagram) that are absolutely breath-taking, our children looked absolutely adorable!  Seriously.

With only the first full week of October officially over, there is still plenty of time for you to throw your own ZOOKY Halloween party!
Happy Halloween!
