Fall is just around the corner, and with it comes an onslaught of new

fashion trends

for the chillier season.

Of course, society, branding reps, celebrity stylists, and even your family/friends will have their opinions on what you should and shouldn't wear; but what do you think?  Are you totally digging the current "on trend" options or is your heart set on wearing something that was so "last season, year, decade, or even millennium"?!  Sure, to some degree, we all care about what others think when they initially see us walk into a room.  But, when it comes down to it...who do you want to make most happy?  You, or them?

Wearing: Great Grandma Margaret's hat, XS Mens H&M boat neck shirt, Compass necklace, black pencil skirt I snagged off Groopdealz, and black suede bootie pumps.

Personally, I choose me.

When it comes to fashion, my style is a little all over the place.  Something I am totally O.K. with, because, in general, I'm a little all over the place. I'm also vibrant, quirky, somewhat confident, and passionate too!  My sense of style truly reflects who I am as a person; and I love that!  Yes, there are definitely some days when my husband, and even my kids have raised a quizzical eyebrow to what I am wearing; and that is fine by me.  I would be lying if I said I didn't do the same!  We are all entitled to our opinions.  Though I don't think we are all entitled to say what we are thinking, out loud.  But, that's a completely different topic, for different day.

Wearing: H&M cardigan, Ivory Bleu Necklace from Groopdealz, Cinch belt I've had for over 6 years, Gold bangle I've had for almost 10 years, 1980's floral dress I found at my local thrift store, nut brown pumps that were a hand me down from my little sister.

Fashion is a form of self-expression, a way to tell a story about who we are as a person.  Sometimes we deliberately and purposefully choose and assemble what we are wearing.  But other times we may find ourselves unconsciously drawn to something.  Never thinking twice or second guessing why we were even wearing it; because deep down our subconscious knew our skin was meant to be in it.

I think the great Coco Chanel said it best when she stated, "You live but once; you might as well be amusing."

Wearing: Old Navy sweater, Faux fur vest from local thrift store, bubble necklace, Cents of Style bracelets, Nordstrom Rack faux leather leggings, and Forever Young boots.

So, why not be amusing in what you wear?

We are each our own unique and individual selves.  Though it is our actions, thoughts, and deeds that reflect who we are/aren't as a person, I truly believe that fashion can be an extension of that.  So, the next time you find yourself rummaging through racks of clothing in a thrift store, Old Navy, or even a high end boutique...remember:

If you like it, wear it!  And do so with confidence!

At the end of the day, the only thoughts you can really hear, are your own. And those are the ones that matter most!
