I cannot believe it is already almost August! Come on, summer just got here! I went to Walmart today and guess what I saw? I saw backpacks, lunch pails, and school supplies! In my summer-loving heart I cried out, "No, this cannot be! Curse you seasons, with your taking away of the warmth and all things happy!". I'm just not ready to give summer up. And to prove it, I am going to share a summer dinner idea with you. It's still grilling season and I've got a good one for you all today. My favorite part about this recipe is how easy it is and tastes amazing! I used the marinade recipe from the teriyaki chicken and made it into a sauce. So here is what we had for dinner tonight, because I am not letting summer end.

Hawaiian Burger Recipe

1 tb. cornstarch
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. white sugar
1 Tb Worcestershire sauce
1 clove of garlic (minced)
1/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. black pepper
Frozen Burger Patties
Fresh Pineapple
1. Warm grill and take burgers out of the freezer.
2. Whisk cornstarch, butter, and water together in a medium sauce pan making a roux. Heat the mixture on low.
3. Once mixture starts to thicken, add the next six ingredients (soy sauce, white sugar, Worcestershire sauce, clove of garlic minced, vinegar, black pepper).
4. Place burgers on the grill and baste on a small amount of teriyaki sauce while cooking.
5. Next, grill onions and pineapple.
6. Once finished assemble hamburger in the following order: Bottom bun, lettuce, hamburger, more teriyaki sauce, pineapple, onions, top bun.
I served this with some yummy sweet onion chips and corn. Are you hungry yet? You should be, this Hawaiian burger was delicious! Oh, side note, guess what? The lettuce was from my garden. Remember I talked about gardening here? I hope you are all having the best summer. I have loved having my kids home with me and being outside. Have a fabulous rest of the week!!
