Oh man, can time slow down a little bit!? Please! This summer has been a super busy one for me. So much for hiking, gardening, and having a relaxing summer. We still have two more Fourth of July parties to attend and I will be needing some good potluck ideas. So here's one recipe that's really easy, inexpensive, and festive.

Patriotic Sugar Popcorn

  • 1/2 c. popcorn kernels
  • 2 Tb butter
  • 12 RED drops food coloring
  • 12 BLUE drops food coloring
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 Tb vanilla
  • 2 TB water
 1. Pop the popcorn kernals. Should yield a large bowl of popcorn.
2. In a saucepan heat and melt the butter.
3. When butter is nealy melted, stir in butter, water, vanilla, and blue food coloring.
4. Once mixed pour the mixture over half the popcorn and stir it in quickly before the mixture hardens. At first you may think that the mixture isn't enough. But keep stirring and it should cover the popcorn.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 substituting the blue food coloring for the red food coloring, pouring the red over the uncovered portion.

I seriously LOVE you all! Thanks for stopping by and checking out what's up with the Mumsy Blog, for liking our stuff in social media sites, and all your love. Have a very happy Fourth of July!
