Father's Day Recipe

There's no doubt about it.  Dads are rad.  But, instead of sharing your sentiments in a card, why not spell them out in pancakes?

Here, at my house, you will always find a bowl full of Great Grandma Messervey's buttermilk pancake batter in the fridge.  Clearly, we love pancakes.  There's no doubt about it, Dave is one rad dad.  So, this year, for Father'd Day, the kids and I will be serving Dave a plateful of pancakes with a twist.  Instead of whipping up a batch of standard circular pancakes, we're going to transform our pancakes into the word that best describes our leading man.

If you're looking for a fun, yet easy, variation to breakfast this Father's Day, then Rad Dad Pancakes will be the perfect thing for your man too!

Here's how you do it.

1. Whip up your very own batch of Great Grandma Messervey's buttermilk pancake batter.

2 cups flour
2 cups milk
1/2 cup oil
1 tsp lemon or lime juice (this will help turn the milk into buttermilk)
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 egg whites

1. Mix dry ingredients together.
2. Add milk, oil, and lemon or lime juice to dry ingredients.
3. Mix
4. Beat egg whites until they are stiff.

5. Fold egg whites into batter.

2.  Place the batter in a clear plastic condiment bottle.

3.  On a greased griddle/pan, squeeze your pancake batter onto the griddle in the shape of the letters that will be forming your descriptive word.

4.  When each pancake is a light golden color on each side, place them on a plate and serve them with some yummy toppings and/or side dishes.

Whether your man eats this fun breakfast at the table or in bed, he most definitely will be filling the love!
