Modern Egg Ideas

Hey there ladies! Are you in love with all the fun modern patterns out there? I sure am! I wanted some modern Easter décor that would match my living room but not take too much time. I ended up with these easy patterned and painted eggs. All I used was a couple sharpies and some gold paint. For most of these I would highly suggest practicing your pattern first before drawing on the egg. I did buy a pack of 12 plastic decorating eggs found at Walmart for $1.97 which I would highly suggest so you can better preserve your artwork. Check em' out!

1.  Dots (Gold Paint, Paintbrush)

Using the end of a paintbrush dip a flat end into the gold paint. Let the excess paint drip off or you will end up with large lumps instead of dots. You may want to practice a few before adding to the egg. Start by making four dots in a square on a small portion of the egg. Next add a dot in the middle of the square to complete a set. Repeat this pattern using two of the dots that made the side of the square for your next set. Continue around the egg adjusting towards the ends.

2.  Stripes (Sharpie)

Start by drawing a circle at one end of the egg. Next make markings along one side of the egg equal distance to the opposite end. Draw a line around the egg  keeping equal distance from the circle you have already drawn (Pictures below). Continue until the line comes full circle. Do this with each marking. Lastly fill in the stripes.

3. Zigzag ( Ultra Fine Sharpie)

Draw a zigzag pattern around the egg trying to stay perfectly horizontal so to end up where you started. Repeat this pattern around the egg keeping equal distance from the original zigzag.

4.  Dipped (Gold Paint, Small Bowl)

Pour a generous amount of paint into a small bowl just larger than the egg. Dip the large end of the egg into the paint. As you raise the egg hold it above the bowl for a few min or as long as it takes for the excess paint to drip off. Carefully set the egg in an egg carton paint side up to dry.

5.  Triangles (Sharpie)

Draw a small triangle. Next draw an adjacent triangle of the same size next to it flipping the triangle on its corner. (See picture below) Continue this pattern around the egg. Once you have completed one line of triangles, start a new line by drawing an opposite facing triangle connecting to the point of a triangle from the first line. So to clarify your second line should be a flipped version of the first. Continue flipping each line to end up with a star shaped pattern.

6. Scallops ( Ultra Fine Sharpie)

Draw a small scallop pattern around the egg trying to stay perfectly horizontal so to end up where you started. Repeat this pattern around the egg keeping equal distance from the original scalloped line.

I think I'll display these eggs in an apothecary jar or in a cute wire basket. And I can get out a few other decorations. But first I have to finish unpacking from my vacation. Isn't unpacking the worst? Clean the house, unpack, then I can decorate. "Booo..." I guess that's enough whining. Hope you have fun making some awesome eggs!
