These days, most Moms are short on time.  Between keeping the nest clean, making sure the fridge and cupboards are stocked, planning a monthly menu, running endless errands, working, making sure everyone else in your home gets to all of their extracurricular activities and so much more, there is hardly any time left to sit down and spend some quality bonding time with our children.  However, that is exactly why it is so crucial to sit down and make sure some special periods of time are set aside each month for our kids.

We have all heard it before, but I will say it again...Kids grow quickly!

 If we spend all our days spending our time with the events and activities that take our full attention away from our kids, we will have missed the magical years of their childhood and never be able to get them back.  And, for me, that is something I personally couldn't live with!  So, each month I force myself to pencil in some quality one-on-one time with each of chickies.

Yes, it often causes me to have to rearrange and move things that simply must get done, but it is worth it.  Because, in that moment when I am solely focusing on one of my sons or daughter, I find that my heart is completely full of joy and my bond with that child is becoming that much more concrete.

Dating your kids doesn't have to put a small dent in your monthly budget.  In fact, think back to those days when you were first married and living on a shoe string budget that forced you get creative with your own spousal date nights.  In the end, what mattered most is the time you were able to spend reconnecting with your spouse.  Spending time with your kids can be exactly like that because, when it comes down to it, the most important thing here is the quality TIME you are giving your child.

As it is with any new venture, dating your kids can seem quite daunting.  But, if you keep it simple, this activity can be one of the simplest and most relaxing things you do each month.  All you have to do is follow these guidelines:

1. Let the child choose the activity {It is O.K. to present options.  Especially if you are on a budget}

2. Eliminate any distractions that may cause you to take your attention away from your child.

3. Document your date through photographs and journal entries. As parents, we all want our children to remain forever young.  And, one way we can most assuredly do that, is through creating documentation that we can refer back to for years to come.

Loves and Hugs,
